DIGITbrain Code Camp - two days of training
The two-days virtual event was kicked-off today and will give opportunity to get to know the new experiment partners that have been selected to form seven new industrial use case experiments building their own digital twin in the next year.
Seven round tables, pairing different partners in each round, were organised to discuss the topics that were relevant for developing the new experiments and to receive insights in their technical requirements and clarify future collaboration.
Amongst other things, topics included discussions on app integration with the Digital Agora, the commercialisation process of applications and services provided by the experiments and the onboarding process, involving the technical experiment partners and technical core partners, cloudSME, UoW, Sztaki and clesgo.

Round Tables and topics to discuss
Round table 1 was set-up to clarify hardware and software requirements towards the infrastructure being used as a service. As a result, it is aimed at finding a common understanding which and how resources can be made available to match the experiments requirements as closely as possible.
Round table 2 is about understanding the data integration needs of the experiments as well as the concepts of and possibilities within DB with the goal of gaining a a better understanding and a path forward on how the experiments will handle Data sources and integrate them with DB.
Round table was about to understand the separation in DB Assets, to get to know the metadata scheme for publishing and the concept of executing DMA tuples and to understand the border between using DB to train a Model – for instance – and execute a DMA tuple.
Round table 4 is aimed at getting an insight of what the Digital Agora (DA) has to offer as an additional dissemination and marketing channel for different types of experiment 3rd parties and the potential to create additional revenue by offering different kinds of services on the DA. The expected result of the RT was to gain a better understanding for experiment partners for the breadth of services the DA is providing. A better understanding on the side of the DB partners on how the experiments may want to exploit these.
DMA tuples in Digital Twins are supposed to create some results, a user may want to interact with. At this round table the envisaged form of interaction is being discussed (end-user perspective) and ways to integrate apps to visualize results of DMA tuples* / Digital Twins (technical perspective). This round table is aimed at gaining a better understanding for the intended usage and how this can be technically achieved.
*DMA Tuples are the combination of a data model and an algorithm. DIGITbrain Project is aiming to extend the digital twin concept by separating data, models and algorithms to make them reusable.
Round table 6 aims at understanding the eco aspects of an experiment, identifying possibilities to show ecological impact as a “side product” of the experiment for those experiments which are suited to do so. Identifying for which experiments and how an LCA or a simplified LCA is possible to conduct within the constraints of the experiment/project will be the desired result of this round table.
This table is expected to “extend” the discussion at RT4 towards the commercialization aspect of the experiment and project result. Discussions at this table shall raise awareness towards the expected later commercial exploitation of the experiment results by the experiment partners with the help of the Digital Agora.

In every Open Call, DIGITbrain will add 7 new highly innovative experiments, bringing together technology providers and manufacturing end-users, each implementing an individual use case-based Digital Twin. Experiments can cover the manufacturing sector at large, including for example discrete manufacturing, continuous production, or construction. In total, we conduct three waves of experiments, the third wave is going to start in the first quarter of 2022.
